Cleaning House: Contamination & Decon of PPE & Building Environments
About the session
Since 2001, the United States has experienced several major hazardous contamination events, including the World Trade Center collapses, anthrax spore releases from domestic bioterrorism, and the COVID-19 pandemic. These events have highlighted the importance of decontamination strategies for personal protective equipment (PPE) and building environments in reducing the risk of further exposure to responders and building occupants.
In this CLEAN Lessons Learned session, the Integrated Bioscience and Built Environment Consortium (IBEC) brings together experts to examine decontamination practices, lessons learned from past incidents, and considerations for future hazardous events.
The discussion will explore challenges associated with biological, chemical, and radiological hazards, with perspectives spanning PPE research, occupational hygiene, building decontamination, and emergency response.
By bringing together professionals with diverse technical backgrounds, the session aims to support knowledge-sharing and a deeper understanding of the considerations involved in managing contamination and decontamination across different environments.
Join us for a multidisciplinary discussion on the experiences, research, and lessons that can inform future preparedness and response efforts.
